Why pdf2kit

Edit private documents without uploading them

Contracts, forms, invoices, receipts and scans often should not sit on a stranger's server. pdf2kit lets you mark up and sign your PDFs on your own computer, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored. It is free to use, with no account and no watermark on the result.

FAQ

Editing PDFs: common questions

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

pdf2kit adds new text, notes and marks on top of the page; it does not re-flow the original typeset text. To replace something, cover it with a filled rectangle and type the new text on top. For notes, form-filling and signing, adding on top is all you need.

What can I add to a page?

Text, a freehand pen, a highlighter, lines and arrows, rectangles and ellipses (outline or filled), images and logos, and your signature. Each mark has its own colour, thickness and opacity.

Can I white out or cover something?

Yes. Drop a filled white box over anything you want to hide, then type your own text on top if you need to.

Can I zoom in to place a mark exactly?

Yes. Open the page in the full-screen reader and zoom in with pinch, the +/- control, or Ctrl and the scroll wheel.

Can I move or remove a mark after I add it?

Yes. Click any mark to select it, then drag to move it, pull a corner to resize it, or delete it. Nothing is final until you download.

Are my edits saved into the PDF?

Yes. When you download, every mark, text box, image and signature is baked into the pages of a new PDF, so it looks the same in any reader.

Are my files uploaded when I edit them?

No. All editing happens in the page on your device. Your PDF is never sent to a server.
